Dark Realms: Design for TV promo concept
Project Overview:
”Dark Realms" is a limited documentary TV series that delves into the complex and often incomprehensible human nature of destruction. Through a cultural, psychological, and scientific lens, the show analyses historic events of destruction and explores the underlying motivations and factors that drive individuals and societies towards such actions. The series offers a thought-provoking and informative examination of how destruction has shaped human history and continues to impact the world today.
I created this project by using leftover design materials from a halted production
Ideation/Execution:
I started by researching historic events represented in the available materials and carefully selected the most suitable ones. With these materials as inspiration, I brainstormed ways to create a compelling storyline. After creating test frames using different approaches, I explored two main ideas. One focused on a photo-realistic style, while the other took a connotative, illustrative approach. Inspiration was drawn from old books, archive photos, and the works of illustrators such as Edward Gorey and Si Lewen . The style frames include either the time/date of the show or interchangeable keywords, depending on the client's preferences.
