Main Title Sequence | Secrets of Cloud
TV Network Title: Secrets of Cloud
Project Overview
The show is about two modern-day detectives who investigate a series of strange and unusual events in a small town in rural America. It's gritty, "thought-provoking," and has an underlying dark tone.
Challenge
The producers we're working with really like the opening sequences of the "True Detective" series and the use of overlays and layering of elements. However, they don't want to use the double-exposure effect. How can we create a short visual story that resonates with the show's gritty and moody tones, retains the feeling that the producers love, and avoids using the double-exposure effect?
Ideation/Execution
Before starting to explore visual ideas, I spent some time understanding the concept behind the keywords used in the brief. I took screenshots of frames from the reference videos provided and pulled tons of photos, textures, and anything that caught my eye. I was provided two tracks to choose from, which helped me figure out the structure of the piece.
I selected key elements and textures from the stock footage provided and added a few extras from my personal library to the visuals. For instance, I chose rusty and mold textures to represent an old factory and evoke unsettling feelings. After selecting dozens of visual references and assets, I categorized them and created a storyboard with photographs and graphics.
